Storyline

An ex-cop turned con threatens to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop. The nearest New York Police officer immediately responds to a screaming woman and calls dispatch. More Officers arrive with SWAT and tactical command along with fire-fighters. The police then dispatches a female police psychologist personally requested to talk him down from the ledge. However, things aren't as straightforward and clearcut as they appear to be.

Development

On September 3, 2010, it was confirmed that Jamie Bell had joined the cast.[5] Filming began on October 30 in New York City. On November 1, it was confirmed that Ed Harris and Titus Welliver had joined the cast.[6]

The first image from the set was revealed on November 2, 2010.[3] The first teaser poster for the film was released on November 5, 2010.[9] The first trailer was released by Summit Entertainment on September 22, 2011.[10] The film was distributed by Summit Entertainment and E1 Entertainment (UK).

Man on a Ledge has earned mostly negative reviews from critics, earning a 32% rating Rotten Tomatoes based on 143 reviews, but only a 19% rating from the top critics. The consensus for the film states: "Uninspired acting and preposterous plotlines diffuse Man on a Ledge's mildly intriguing premise."[11]

The film placed fifth in the box office top ten with a low $8,300,000 gross.
